It was working for me at some point and then it wasn’t.

I am sad, I like CSS in theory, it’s just more difficult and easier to mess up!

It looks ok in Firefox but not at all in Safari…

1. Who is your target audience?

People about to have an event: wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, birthdays, etc. and corporations, thank you presents, etc

2. How would you describe yourself/your company?

Smart start up, all natural, homemade goods

3. Do you have an elevator pitch? If not, please describe your company in one sentence.

Hand-cut marshmallows, s’mores and other treats for any occasion.

4. What makes your company better than your competitors? Different from your competitors?

Homemade, hand cut, personalized, finely crafted treats

5. Describe your general business strategy. Will it be web-only or offline as well? How will the website exist in relation to other business aspects – i.e. print?

We will have printed materials, like brochures, but expect most of the traffic to be driven to the website (even by direct marketing materials)

6. When the process actually begins, we will go through and capture detailed requirements but as an overview, please outline, in terms of the website functionality:

To give customers the ability to order and customize gifts for many occasions and budgets.

7. Will E-commerce need to be incorporated into the site? (A web store)

Yes

8. Will there be any video/audio?

No, probably not.

9. Are there any community (people writing in) or forum requirements?

Not really, possibly customer feedback to be displayed, but that would be a longer term goal, not immediate.

10. Will there be user registrations?

Optional when placing an order.

11. In terms of a Content Management System (CMS): How often will the site need to be updated?

Weekly, but possibly more often as supplies will change day to day of current offerings.

12. Can you provide a brief outline of what would require updating?

Quantities and flavors of products (seasonal changes, etc.) as well as sales and other information.

13. Do you require any E-marketing such as Newsletters? No.

14. Do you have a vision or outline of what you want the site to look and feel like? You can reference other sites and/or competitors – this would be helpful.

Something like baked.com, or another simple “treat” site. Nothing to flashy, should be pretty simple, but graceful and easy to use.

“Coffee shop” colors: browns and muted blues, greens and oranges. Not too bright, not too flashy. Cozy, homemade feel. 18.

What are your number one priorities for the site – What do you want it to do?

Allow people to easily view product and place orders.

Other small start ups in the treat/event/thank you gift business.

Ease of use.

from your competitors? Outstanding, well trained staff and connections to outside/sister agencies, such as the ASPCA

aspects – i.e. print? The website should work in conjunction with collateral: direct mail, brochures, etc. We do not advertise on TV. Though we have printed materials, we are hoping to switch to the web as our main info source to cut back on administrative/overhead fees, so more money can be focused on the animals.

8. Will there be any video/audio? Video, possibly—but for cost should be kept pretty simple.

requirements? If so, will this need to be mediated? No forum, but email communication will be available with the administrator.

10. Will there be user registrations? Yes, for the adoption application and volunteer/donation sections, but will be optional. Users can have the option to use the interface as a guest.

the site need to be updated? At least once or twice weekly to reflect accurate information about current events and availability of dogs for adoption.

this would be helpful. http://americankennels.com/ is a good rescue site that looks well done and user-friendly. Aspca.org is good, but maybe a little busy and too much going on, advertising, etc.
